Ireland 🇮🇪: Minister of State for Public Health, Colm Burke, was denied Holy Communion at a funeral mass last Friday (12th).

He was told this occurred because he had been "excommunicated" for his "support of abortion," according to the Irish broadcaster RTÉ.

Mr. Burke said he was "surprised" when Father Gabriel Burke refused to give him the Eucharist.

"He just gave me a blessing. He said, 'you don't understand.' He said, 'you have been excommunicated,'" according to the broadcaster “BBC News.”
