The Itamaraty issued a statement regarding the Israeli attack on a Hezbollah base:

"The Brazilian government condemns the airstrike conducted by Israel yesterday, July 30, in a residential area of Beirut.

Brazil is following with extreme concern the escalation of hostilities between Israel and the armed wing of the Lebanese party Hezbollah. The continuation of the cycle of attacks and retaliations leads to a spiral of violence and aggression with increasingly severe damage, especially to the civilian populations of both countries.

Therefore, it urges the Israeli authorities and Hezbollah to refrain from actions that could expand the conflict, with unpredictable consequences for the stability of the Middle East and international security.

The Brazilian government calls on the international community to use all available diplomatic tools to immediately contain the worsening of the conflict."
