Protesters in Bangladesh are toppling a statue of Sheikh Mujib, the main figure responsible for the country's independence when it was just a province of Pakistan. Mujib is the father of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was forced to flee the country amid the protests.

The protesters are demanding an end to the quota policy that Hasina tried to implement, which reserved 30% of public service positions for descendants of the guerrilla group that supported her father's political struggle for the country's independence.
