USA 🇺🇸: Joe Biden has withdrawn and endorsed K. Harris, but this does not automatically make Harris the candidate.
The party has until August 1st to nominate a candidate or risks not having a candidate in some states (a risk they are already facing).
If in the first polls, expected to be published between Monday (22) and Wednesday (24), Harris's name does not generate enthusiasm, other names might emerge to challenge her. This could lead to the possibility of an open national convention for the party. The outcome at that point would be unpredictable.
Here is a short list of potential names if K. Harris is not the nominee:
- Michelle Obama
- Hillary Clinton
- Gavin Newsom
- Gretchen Whitmer
- Josh Shapiro
- Pete Buttigieg
- John Kerry
- Amy Klobuchar
- Antony Blinken
- Joe Manchin
Obviously, nothing prevents another name from appearing on the list of potential substitutes if Kamala Harris fails to secure the party's nomination.
